5th PRINCIPLE

SOCIETY EFFECTIVE PARTICIPATION IN WATER MANAGEMENT DEPENDS ON ACCESS TO INFORMATION, QUALITY EDUCATION AND POWER IN DECISION AREAS AND MUST INCLUDE, THEN, THE CREATION OF ENABLING ENVIRONMENTS THAT STIMULATE IT

The participatory, integrated and shared management of water resources is only achieved with the broad involvement of representatives of all segments and actors of society within a river basin, so that the dialogue is comprehensive enough to allow a governance based on sustainability and water security.

For this, initially, it is essential for everyone the access to information on all parameters and concepts related to local water issues, so that everyone knows the territory and allows the marking and the necessary balance for decision-making.

In line with unrestricted information, citizens should have access to training and qualification processes in order to be involved in decision-making. For this, it is very important that the basin enables and encourages the creation of spaces and environments for citizen participation in governance and decision-making power of water solutions.
